Sephora Play August 2016
Caudalie / Urban Decay / MUFE / Sephora / Lancome
More details and my thoughts on the Sephora Play August 2016 box after the jump.
CLEAN Reserve Blonde Rose (not pictured because I am a monster)
Despite being a rose-based fragrance and despite the scent’s style being described, “sophisticated, classic, and feminine,” Reserve Blonde Rose is quite masculine. It isn’t a bad thing; it’s kind of intriguing and unexpected. Unfortunately, it isn’t to my taste (read: I don’t wish to wear it), but it is the first unisex fragrance that I’ve found interesting. Five points for the folks at Clean, who came up with something interesting and different.
Double-unfortunately, the mister cap of the sample vial I received was offset and crooked. I felt the need to toss it to avoid disastrous leaks – so it isn’t pictured.
Caudalie Reservatrol Life Eye Lifting Balm
There’s really not enough in this sample to tell if it is worth a damn. Does it hydrate? Sure. But there isn’t enough product in this sample to get a decent test out of.
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
I’ve used Perversion before, but I’m generally happy to receive most mascara samples. When I first tried it last year, I was offput. The formula is mousse-y and wet. The wand… don’t get me started. I hate the Perversion wand. Like, a lot. It’s fluffy, awkward, and splayed. My mascara style is to lengthen and define and the Perversion wand simply isn’t built for that.
But with another wand, Perversion is just fine. LAB2 has some disposable ones, or you can repurpose one you liked from something else (clean it first!) Some folks report that the formula is smudgy; I personally don’t have that issue.
Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow, Pink Granite
It doesn’t love all my brushes, but this is a really pretty, nearly universally-flattering shade. It makes me think of Pewter from Lorac PRO.
Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil, Taupe
This made me nervous when I saw it in my beauty bag on Sephora’s site before my box arrived. As it turns out, Taupe is a bit of a misnomer for this shade. It’s a cool, medium brown with a bit of shimmer. It glides on nicely and is neither scratchy nor, “loud,” when on.
Lancome Énergie de Vie The Smoothing & Glow Boosting Liquid Moisturizer
I’m still trying to keep it simple with my skin, so I’ve skipped trying this moisturizer for now. I can tell you without trying it, though, that I wouldn’t buy it. $55 for a 1.7 oz (full size!) moisturizer isn’t in my budget. I’ll splurge on oil, but oil lasts me 2/3 of forever.

What facial oil do you use for moisture?
I’ve used Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan for a while, but I’m testing a Boots Organics oil out of curiosity!
