This legacy post has been given a facelift. Content has been edited for clarity and flow, but opinions are the same. Additional (new) commentary is in line.
We’ve all had it happen – find an item we love, use it (if consumable) or wear it out (if not), go to restock or replace only to be met with sadness.
Here’s a list of discontinued products I miss!
Ponds Luminous Finish BB+
I feel like I just reviewed this – I haven’t finished my tube, but now I’m in ration-mode because they already discontinued it. They still have it on Amazon through third-party merchants, but I’m still debating on it.
Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds – Pink Rhinestone
An ooooldie, but I long for it on the regular. It’s a shimmery light pink that is perfect. The formula was awesome and it was pretty and I went through THREE whole bottles of it. Three. Even though I’m a gel fanatic now, I would gleefully purchase this if they re-released it. Meanwhile, I’ve been unsuccessfully hunting for a dupe. 2018 Update: I still pine for this polish. It has now been well over a decade after I’ve worn it and it tugs at my damn heartstrings because it. was. perfect!
More after the jump…
Pantene Ice Shine Shampoo & Conditioner
Sure, Ice Shine still exists…in a bastardized state. Pantene is one of those companies that reformulates their products approximately every seven minutes. Like Sam Ravndahl misses MAC Warm Soul, I miss what this used to be.
Aveeno Nourish and Soothe Shampoo
Was nice to my hair and scalp. This was actually intended for dandruff usage; I’ve never contended with that, but it was really gentle and lovely. Funnily, my favorite thing about it wasn’t even how nice it was to my hair for a drugstore shampoo; its blend of lavender and peppermint scents was incredible. This was in the original Aveeno haircare release, but was discontinued shortly thereafter. Jerks. 2018 Update: To this day, I try to recapture my memory of how it smelled by cocktailing lavender and peppermint essential oils in a diffuser. I’ve come close, but it isn’t the same.
Burt’s Bees Citrus Facial Scrub
Looks kind of gross in its little glass jar, but for a physical exfoliant it was magical. I’m not entirely sure it is formally discontinued, but I can’t find it anywhere in my area. This scrub was cool because although it had gritty bits in it, it wasn’t harsh like the famous apricot scrub we all know, AND because it came in a dry format. If you traveled, it didn’t have to go into your liquids bag! When it was time to use, you’d scoop a little bit out of the jar onto wet hands and massage onto your face. It left your skin glowing (and not in a, “I just scrubbed way too hard!” way).
The Bottom Line
What discontinued products of days passed do you miss? What have you loved and lost – and is that better than never having used them at all?
