Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, $5 / Maybelline Color Sensational, “The Buffs,” lipstick $6 /
Maybelline Lash Discovery Waterproof Mascara, $6/ C.O. Bigelow Vanillamint Supreme Lip Shine, $8
We’ve entered May, so that means it is time to talk about my April 2014 Favorites!
So it was only after uploading my silly graphic that I realized how Maybelline-heavy this month was in terms of stuff I liked and used often. This wasn’t intentional, but I guess it speaks to them not sucking.
I bought a tube of the Maybelline Fit Me! concealer last summer when I was tan and awesome. When I paled-up, I was still happy enough with it to buy it in a lighter shade. I currently use shade 20 Sand, and I find it does well for under-eye concealing. I honestly haven’t tried it on my mole-removal scar (so I will need to report back on that!) or blemishes (but I don’t really like to cover blemishes). I’ve heard that this is also a budget-friendly alternative to the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, but I haven’t tried that product so I can’t speak to it. The doe-foot applicator makes for easy application to your skin, or your finger, or a brush – I don’t blend it out with the applicator, though.
Recently, I picked up a tube of Maybelline ColorSensational from their new, “The Buffs,” line. I chose Stormy Sahara and have determined that it is as close as I can get to a, “nude,” lip without looking corpse-esque. (Sorry – I’m not into the lips-that-look-like-your-skin thing on much of anyone, much less myself.) The formula is similar to the other ColorSensational lipsticks – applies easily without skipping and wears away easily. I dig it.
I don’t often wear mascara on my lower lashline, but when I do, I get it all over the damn place because my lower lashes, like most folks’, are short (and the BareMinerals Lash Domination wand is gigantic). Enter this petite sucker! This helps me get a modest amount of product on them AND on the finer, smaller lashes on the inner third of my upper lashline. Pretty easy to use, and not expensive like the Clinique or MAC one. If you’re using it on your lower lashline, I recommend getting the waterproof (even if you don’t plan on crying or whatnot). This, and the other two Maybelline products mentioned above can be found at every drugstore ever, mass retailers (Target, Walmart), and on the internet on Amazon.
Lip balms and treatments are my thing. I really love the Ultra Menthe Lip Shine from C.O. Bigelow, and I like Vanilla, so I tried this. It isn’t quite as intense as I was expecting (hoping) it would be, but it has consistently lived in my purse this month and is a nice depart from regular balms. If you want to live on the edge, you can toss it in the ‘fridge for a pick-me-up when you use it. This product is only available at Bath and Body Works, but is frequently subject to sales (B2G1, etc + promo codes, etc).
Disclosure: None of the items I’ve talked about in my April 2014 Favorites were sponsored. That said, some of the links in this post are affiliate links – this means I may get a very small percentage of the sale if you decide to buy something. I’ll only tell you that something is awesome if I have verified it myself!
