Skinfix Ultra Rich Hand Cream
Looking for the One Hand Cream to Rule Them All? For me, it was Skinfix Ultra Rich Hand Cream.
Thankfully, it is now (technically) Spring. Dry winter air made drier by home heat was already too kind to our skin. Add in increased hand-washing to stave off the ravages of cold and flu season and you’re doing a number on your hands. Even diligent home manicurists find themselves struggling to maintain comfortable, healthy skin on our hands.
A few years ago, I received a tiny little baby of a sample tube in one of those free gift with purchase pouches from Ulta. I haven’t looked back. Since then, I’ve purchased and repurchased this hand cream four times. Now, why do I love it so?
Low Fragrance
It isn’t quite unscented, but it isn’t heavily perfumed either. I really do not care for scented lotion products; in fact, the only fragrance in a lotion that I care for is whatever the hell is in the Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin stuff. If I had to describe it, I’d say it has a vague cucumber-y scent, but it isn’t strong or sweet.
Thick (or, you know, Thicc with two Cs)
This stuff is thick and rich – so application doesn’t feel pointless. At the same time, though, it doesn’t linger and leave a gross, thick film.
Price Point
As hand lotion goes, there are definitely cheaper options out there. That said, this is a reasonable drugstore-ish price-point that shouldn’t break the bank if you are demanding as hell about hand cream (like me).
Caveats & The Bottom Line
Ulta no longer carries it. Target no longer carries it. It used to be around $10/tube. Now, I can only find it on Amazon for like $20/tube; while it is good, it is not $20 for a 6oz tube good. Skinfix’s site is down, purportedly for some crazy overhaul or maintenance. I hope just rebranding and new packaging and whatnot, but I am conditioned to fear discontinuation. SIGH.
A deeper search of the internet (aka, going to their Twitter), reveals that they are about to launch in Sephora in early April. I don’t know what this means for the brand, but, best case scenario, it likely means higher prices. DAMN. IT.
