Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil

I’m already a fan of Tree Hut products, but I was triggered when I saw Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil several months ago. I waited to purchase until my No Buy was paused, though, because I didn’t need to replenish what I was already using. Waiting forced me not to impulsively try it and it enabled me to buy it on sale AND save 20% with my Platinum Perk.

I was already using an oil to shave my legs (I wrote about Shave Secret here). I like what I was using, but I wasn’t attached to it (like I am to Moisture Maniac). There are a few scents of Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil available; I chose Coconut Lime to match my favorite Tree Hut body scrub.

Packaging

Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil comes in an easy-to-use pump bottle. Compared to the tiny, screw-top dropper bottle of the product I was using, it is way easier to use. I don’t have to fumble with a tiny screw cap in the shower. The pump locks with a quarter turn, but is easily managed and operated in the shower.

Barrier, Glide, & Control

Unlike the shaving oil I’m familiar with, this one is thin and slippery. It doesn’t take much effort to work it into the skin before shaving, so you don’t need a ton of time.

For the sake of reference I use a Gillette Mach3 blade on a Venus handle. (Mach3 blades are cheaper and I generally find I get more mileage out of them.) My razor glides along smoothly and cleanly without skipping or issue.

You do have less blade control with this than a product like Shave Secret. I’d rate it on par with the control a conventional can cream or gel provides.

Rinsing

One thing I didn’t love after shaving with Shave Secret was that I had to re-wash my legs after shaving. The blend of oils tended to linger behind, and you don’t always want that sort of thing. After shaving with Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil you don’t have to. This shave oil rinses away cleanly and without much effort.

There’s a trade-off though: because it is easily rinsed away, you do need to steer clear of the path of the water. Better yet, turn it off to conserve water, power, and precious heat.

The Bottom Line

I really enjoy Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil and it has earned a permanent spot in my hair removal supply repertoire. It isn’t going to replace Shave Secret for me, though; sometimes Shave Secret is definitely where its at for travel or situations where you don’t have much warm water to work with.
