Using Gimme Brow (Or Why I’m an Idiot)

Gimme Brow

Benefit Gimme Brow, $24

My brows hadn’t been touched in months; literally nary a pluck. I’ve been attempting to grow them in so that eventually a semblance of shape could be cultivated from them. Fortunately, I had a voucher for a free brow wax at the Benefit Brow Bar and redeemed it this weekend. In minutes, my brows were whipped into glorious shape.  Sweet success!

After mapping, waxing, plucking strays, and cleaning up, my Arch Expert deftly swiped Gimme Brow, my current go-to brow product, through my brows.

Boy, am I an idiot.

Gimme Brow contains fibers to help sparse spots. All this time I’ve been swiping it through my brows in the direction the hair grows. This is folly! The correct way to apply this did not occur to me until she swiped product through my brows.

Start first at the tail of the brow, then sweep the spoolie applicator forward. By moving against the growth towards the front of the brow, the fibers are better able to adhere to the brow hairs. Once you’ve gone through your brows in the, “wrong,” direction, brush back through in the opposite direction to get your brows to lay properly. It feels utterly ridiculous and wrong, but the end result looks so much better.

PROTIP: Do this before you apply foundation. You might get some product outside your brows!

At the end, you’re left with fuller brows with barely any effort and they don’t remotely look, “put on.” Dipbrow is amazing, but takes time to do right and can easily be overdone. Pencils can be incredible, but they take time and precision!

By the way…

Being an Ulta Platinum member is worthwhile. I received a 50% off Gimme Brow perk the other day and promptly bought three tubes. Deals like this come through quite often – so as much as I like Sephora, if I can buy it at Ulta, I usually prioritize them.
